WELCOME TO CANASTA PANTHERS!! Please note these rules are a basis to a fair and fun league - there may be instances that arise to prompt changes ~ these rules are guidelines and final say will be made by an Admin or HTD.
To ensure a drama-free league (as much as humanly possible) please check all attitudes and bad moods at the door. Our goal is for everyone to have fun and leave the lobby at the end of the playing day feeling good and looking forward to coming back.
We ask that all players remember to say "gg" or "gh" at the table. It takes little time and means a lot to your opponent. Also, even though you say it at the table, please remember to also say it in the lobby.
BOXABLE OFFENSES:
Fighting in the lobby with ANYONE - be it another member, Staff Member or non-leaguer. Problems with a league member or staff member should be taken to a table and a non-involved staff member invited. Most problems can be worked out with open communication. Remember also, name-calling, whether at a game table, lobby or elsewhere will never be tolerated. Problems with non-leaguers can be resolved quickly and efficiently by placing the offending party on ignore. If you can't see them, they can't annoy you.
Force Forfeiting (this is only if there is no doubt that Yahoo didn't do it, which it has been known to do lately when a person gets booted from the table). First time warning - second time boxing 1 day, third time boxing 3 days - continuous FF'ing can be grounds for removal from league.
Cheating of any kind will not be tolerated (unless, of course, you are playing in a cheater's doubles). No first warning - immediate boxing. 3 days first offense - 7 days second offense - repeated offenses will result in removal from league. (Cheating must be proven) False allegations of cheating is also a boxable offense.
GENERAL RULES:
Only one ID per person is permitted in the league. If there is more than one person in your household playing in the league, please be sure to let an admin know so that the other ID's will not be removed as a duplicate account. If there are other people in your household in the league, please do not play ladder matches with them. All play with family members, whether same household or not, must be restricted to tag-team play or random partner tourneys.
Slow play ~ All games are timed so please play courteously and quickly. All games are 45 minutes in length. If you repeatedly take longer than 45 seconds per play you will be given a slow play warning. Two slow play warnings will be given - the third is an automatic DQ.
You may play in only two tourneys at any given time, AS LONG AS THE SLOW PLAY rule is followed. If you cannot keep up you will be dq'd in the most recent tourney you signed up for.
MIA ~ If you are disconnected from the internet, get booted from the room or are absent from the table for any reason beyond your control, you will be given 10 minutes to return. This time is cumulative during the game; for instance, you get booted and take three minutes to return, you have 7 minutes remaining. If you get booted again, and take six minutes to return, you will have 1 minute left. If you leave again after the remaining minute, you will be dq'd.
BRB - You are allowed two minutes for a brb - and only two brb's per game. If you take more than 2 minutes to return, the MIA rule is invoked and timing will start at the end of the initial 2 minutes. Invite the Td to the table to start the timer as the timer will not start till the td is at the table
It is your responsibility to remove your name from any tourney you have signed up for and are subsequently unable to play in. If you join a tourney and are not present to play in it, you will be put on MIA and timed out after 10 minutes.
Tds no longer come to the table to post rules for the tourney being played. It is your responsibility as the player who registered to read the rules on the tourney page. If you need to ask a question or need the TD's attention, please invite the td to the table as they do NOT sit at the table and be patient until they arrive. You are not being ignored, they might be dealing with an issue at another table, and will be with you as soon as possible. If your TD gets booted from the lobby and you need a td, please invite any other td or admin who might be in the lobby - we are all here to help.
No visitors are allowed at the tourney tables, unless agreed to by both players and td. If a visitor comes to the table, they must remain quiet and not kibitz the game. If Kibitz is turned on for any reason they will be immediately asked to leave the table.
TOURNEY PROTOCOL:
The TD posts pairings in the lobby - the first name makes the table and invites the opponent. If you are the opponent, please wait for an invitation - do not jump on the table and sit before your opponent does. If the person who is named first does not make table within 2 minutes the TD will ask you to make the table, invite opp and sit. If your opponent is not in the lobby, the MIA timer will be started from the time of pairings.
When the game is over you both report in the lobby. The TD is not to be called to the table unless their is a dispute on who won. Post in lobby like this: <<------won "game name" gg "opp name" ty or <<-------lost "game name" gg "opp name" ty. For dubs: <<-------/"partners name" won "game name" gg "opp name/opp name" ty or <<<--------/"partners name" lost "game name" gg "opp name/opp name" ty
Please remember to say gg at the table to your opponent
Please be courteous to the TD and your fellow league members and not type while the pairings are being posted. It makes it hard for everyone to see what the TD is saying and could mean that the table ends up being made wrong or the title for the game not being seen.
If the table is made incorrectly - NO MATTER HOW FAR INTO THE GAME YOU ARE - it needs to be remade. The current game is to be cancelled and a new game started. No scores will be carried over. So, to prevent this from happening, please take a look at the table settings when you join the table to make sure they are correct.
Since many games are new to a lot of people, rules may not be clearly understood. We allow ONE restart in the event this happens, in the first hand ONLY, and as long as no score has been posted.. Once a score has been posted, it is assumed the rule was understood and the dq will stand. The first hand and restart rule only applies to the first time you play the game in a given tourney. So if you have any questions at all, please ask them. All TD's are happy to answer as many questions as necessary to ensure the rule is completely understood.
DOUBLES TOURNEYS:
We allow subs in doubles tourneys. Only one sub per team at any given time. If the game is already in progress and a team member gets booted, a sub will be invited after 5 minutes MIA time. If the original player returns they will be allowed to have their seat back AFTER the current hand in progress is completed. If a sub starts a game for a MIA player at the start of a round, then the sub will complete the entire game for that round. If the original player returns they will need to wait til the start of the next round to return to their seat. If a doubles team is using a sub and the second original team member goes MIA then a second sub is NOT allowed. The team will be placed on 10 minutes MIA and if neither player for that team returns then the team will time out. The hosting TD will ask in lobby for a sub. If no sub is available by the end of the remaining five minutes left of the MIA the team will time out and the game will be cancelled. However if all members playing at the table agree the TD may sub at that time.
Family members living in the same or different households may not partner together in doubles, including swiss, 3x3, 3rd wheel, etc) unless it is a tag team or random partners. Friends and roommates living in the same household may only partner in tag team or random doubles. ABSOLUTELY NO CHEATING OF ANY KIND IN ANY DOUBLES GAMES WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE CHEATERS DOUBLES GAME. Cheating includes: table talk and/or IM'ing (or any other form of communicating) your cards to your partner.Slow play will not be tolerated. If the hosting TD suspects you and your partner of cheating, they will bring it to admin's attention. The admin may be invited to table to oversee the game.
